Hello, my lovelies! I’m so excited to be sharing my current evening skincare routine with you!
I have been noticing such a difference in my skin after using these products for a few months. Honestly, for a while, I was really bad at regularly cleaning my skin at night and I’m a little shamed to say that I would go to bed many nights with a full face of makeup on. *Super cringe moment*
But now that my skin feels so soft and hydrated and I feel so much more relaxed and fresh after washing my face, having a regular routine has become so easy and enjoyable for me. I’m at the point now where the idea of sleeping with makeup on just makes me uncomfortable and I think this has really helped the condition of my skin too.
Before starting this routine my skin was so dry. I would literally have skin flake off under my eyes, nose, forehead and chin and my complexion was so dull and red. Basically, it was irritated because it wasn’t being properly taken care of. Now I am starting to get compliments on the overall colour of my skin and it looks so soft and hydrated.
Step 1. Remove Makeup & Cleanse
If I can make my evening skincare routine as quick and easy as possible then that is ideal because, by the time I am ready to head into the bedroom, I want to crawl right into bed. The idea of spending forever in the bathroom washing my face doesn’t appeal to me. This is why I have been LOVING using the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Water With Argan Oil because it takes off my makeup and cleanses all in one go.
When I say this takes off my makeup, I mean it reeeeally takes it off. Every last bit, waterproof and all! I love this because it is so gentle removing everything off my skin but it leaves it feeling so smooth and hydrated due to the Argan Oil.
I have also been noticing a difference in my eyelashes. They look way longer and healthier which I can only attest back to the Micellar Water.
Shake the bottle vigorously to combine the argan oil with the cleansing water and immediately fill a cotton pad with the solution.
Gently wipe off all makeup and do a once-over with a clean pad soaked in a little more solution to properly cleanse skin.
Step 2: Tone & Brighten
I had been hearing so many good reviews about the Aveeno skincare line so I was very excited to try the Positively Radiant Toner.
I knew that I wanted to improve the colour in my skin so a brightening toner was a must.
It feels so good to use this toner and it’s alcohol-free so it doesn’t leave your face feeling tight and dried out. It rebalances the skin with soy extracts which helps to reduce blotchiness and discolouration.
Soak a cotton pad with the solution and gently wipe over the entire face avoiding the eyes and lips.
That’s it! Easy right? 😉
Step 3: Reduce Fine Lines & Brighten With Serum
Step 3 is my favourite step as I love noticing the difference that using serums make on my skins appearance.
I have been using The Ordinary face serums for 6 months now and they make the biggest difference for me in the overall condition of my skin.
The Retinol comes in an oil solution while the Vitamin C is thin cream. Both serums reduce fine lines and wrinkles to improve the look of ageing, but the Vitamin C Suspension is also an antioxidant that brightens the skin tone. (Can you tell I have a brightening theme going on? lol)
When applying serums it is recommended to use no more than two in one routine.
You have two options when it comes to application.
- Apply oils first and then creams after
- Mixing the oils into the creams
For these serums, I like to mix them together as it’s one quick and easy step. To do this, first, squeeze a small pea-sized amount of the Vitamin C Complex into the palm of the hand and then place 2-3 drops of the Retinol into the Vitamin C Complex.
With your finger, mix the two together to combine then press the serum mixture into the main parts of the face avoiding the eye area and lips.
*Note* These serums when first using can cause irritation to the skin and a burning/tingling feeling. Usually, it takes 1-2 weeks for the skin to adjust but if irritation continues then discontinue use.
Step 4: Hydration Using Oil
Using facial oils is a new thing for me as I was always told to use a cream moisturizer, however as you know, I have always had issues with extreme dryness. I really wanted to combat this issue so I thought if my skin is having trouble producing oil then using straight oil to hydrate my skin might be more penetrating. So far it is working beautifully!
The Rose Hip Oil by Measurable Difference is very enjoyable to use and makes my skin feel so soft and hydrated.
I love the little rosebuds floating in this oil as it makes it seem so luxurious and smells delightful. This oil is also great for using on the body after a shower so it is so worth it!
Place 3-4 drops of oil onto your fingertips and gently press into your skin all over your face.
